Intensive with Sera Solstice: 5 hours of Dance & a Performance, all in one day! Plus, a very special Saturday evening Workshop for Solo Dancers, never before offered in Western NY, and an opportunity to perform part of a choreography with Sera Solstice in the Performance.
Weekend intensive will focus upon the following elements:
Dance technique for graceful execution of movement
Challenging and concise choreography
Movement flow... a continuous run of short combinations of various
undulations
Travelling steps and techniques for moving across the floor
Re-aligning with focus and intention within your dance
Building performance skills, focus, and confidence
Artistic expression and development of authentic movement
Expansions:full body movements with martial arts, modern dance influence
Isolations: pop n' locks, undulations, and good old bellydance!
2-part workshop requires enrollment in both parts, as we will build a
choreography during both parts of the workshop which will be put
together in the end. As always, Sera builds unique fresh material for each new workshop.
Saturday Solo Workshop 6:30-8pm
EAST COAST TRIBAL SOLOIST SALON: Saturday evening workshop for solo dancers: East Coast Tribal Soloist Salon Sera shares ideas and specific techniques on how to create a solo, tips for working with your music, ideas for achieving a powerful performance, and discussion on key elements of a good solo performance. Dancers may bring a solo piece to perform for critique with Sera. Discover your hidden strengths, and unknown weaknesses in a safe and supportive circle of dance-sisters. Or, if you are a first time soloist, this is a good opportunity to witness the process of others. Please note, this may run longer.
Sunday Full Day Intensive
9-2:30pm
SOLAR: Strengthening, travelling, turning, shimmying, extending
LUNAR: Isolating, locking, undulating, expressing
PERFORMANCE CHOREOGRAPHY: Sera will build & direct from the Intensive to include Workshop Participants in part of one of her choreographies that will be performed at the hafla that evening. Participation is not mandatory but highly recommended for an awesome experience! Performing participants will not need to purchase a Hafla ticket but may want to purchase one below for a friend. Additional details on this part will be posted after Tribal Fest.
